Hello all,

In celebration of the solstice I would like to offer a custom spot for a handwoven piece, available for everyone to enter! The draw begins now and will close on Sunday December 21st.   It has been a long while since I have opened my custom list to ALL, but now feels like a good time. Head over to the link below to enter, I'll be drawing a name (or maybe two) on the Solstice.

Kyle has been busy doing all sorts of bookbinding and printmaking – today, though, we will talk only about the prints. These newest batches of prints are illuminated with 24kt gold leaf and hand painted with watercolors and gouache. The lines of the prints are formed through the intaglio process of drypoint printmaking.

A plate is scratched with a sharp point to create lines into which ink is rubbed. Our etching press is used to create a huge amount of pressure forcing thick, soft and wet paper into the lines transferring the image. The whole process feels like a magic trick and must have felt as such in the 15th century when the process was invented.

After which each individual print is hand embellished - though they all derive from the same plate no two are alike - each one is a unique piece! After all this they are put up for sale so that you might take one home and let it be a part of your life - and the winter sale on our website right now is fully stocked with these latest creations.

The gold leaf compliments the black and white lines perfectly. The atmosphere of the prints comes alive as the light catches the metal, energizing ancient memories of sun worship and wonder about that magical substance which we find on the earth. In making these you see why there is an obsession with this substance - it connects to our beings. The prints are all us at different moments of existence.

The new year holds many new creations for us both - we are working together on a show which we will install at Truth or Consequences Contemporary in March of this year. This show will touch on all that we know as humans and all that we've learned as artists. The excitement, between us, is palatable.

Wishing you all Light & Love,
Jeannie and Kyle
