The forests are dry, and burning. From where I sit now there are two fires, one 8 miles to the northwest, one two miles to the northeast. Both started by lightning. With the lightning there has only been a little rain, not enough to saturate the earth. One of the things I was hoping to do this summer was to dye a palette of colors from plants and fungi. The flowers, fungi and plants are sparse, and for the most part I don’t feel good about harvesting them for dye. So, we shall see how this facet of my project evolves and comes to life. Adaptation and evolution seems to be the message. Over and over.
